»We transport communication«

Dr. Dieter Flechsenberger, CEO

The transport industry is global - what about the DVV Media Group?

In Europe and China we have our own publishing companies, and cooperation partners. Our network of correspondents spans the world. We aim to address ourreadership with worldwide topics within their working environment and in their native language.

Please describe the DVV Media Group in brief.

Within DVV Media Group, 12 publishing companies produce newspapers and magazines, newsletters, specialist titles as well as reference books. Our history goes back more than 60 years. With about 250 employees in Germany and abroad we cover the sectors of transport, logistics, maritime technology, rail technology, travel and meetings.

The target group depends on rapid information. What role does the printed word still play?

Print media cannot be replaced. Each medium has its specific advantages - as does the printed word. However, we have to remain competitive against other media. We fight for the time of our readers against consumer titles and television. We can only remain in the market when we stay attractive, which means contents and format have to follow the trends of the time. This means we want to be a good read. But we represent communication. And this means more than just printed paper. After all, our customers should be able to decide the form in which they receive our products. In modern trade publishing not every word still needs to be in print...

... which means?

Our customers operate in a worldwide market. That means we have to reach them there. The internet offers the fastest way to achieve this. Electronic media haveal ready a high strategic value in our group.

What about face-to-face communications?

We transport communication - this means the spoken word has its place, too. We want to interact in depth at different levels with our industries. For that reason,we stage forums, congresses and symposiums both in Germany and abroad.

Where are you heading for?

Into the future, using well-established, improved and new media. This means closely following industry trends. Our task is not only to collect a my riad of information but to select, present and comment. We aim to be the competent pilot for our partners, readers and advertisers. Then we will have fulfilled our role as a trade publisher.
